I have always loved this guy, probably my favorite non-dino prehistoric animal. Sorta like a Komodo Dragon but with a giant sail.
I still can't believe these things are my great (exponent 1,00) grand father.

The language barrier doesn't let me find the hi res version in your blog. However - thanks for posting this guy, Dimetrodon has always been of my favourite creatures since I was small, hehe. Perfect anatomy as always and the color scheme is very unique, too!

Lembro que a primeira vez que eu soube deste dino foi num daqueles antiguíssimos filmes de dinossauro, onde disfarçavam largartos de verdade e faziam truques de cãmera e montagem para fazê-los enormes.

Sim, eu lembro desses filmes. Se não me engano foi uma das primeiras versões de "Viagem do centro da Terra". Usaram iguanas. Pobres lagartos... os animais foram muito maltratados nas filmagens.
O curioso é que esse bicho de fato nem dinossauro é, mas sim uma criatura muito mais antiga, de uma época anterior. Na verdade o Dimetrodon faz parte da linhagem que originou os mamíferos. Difícil ver algum traço nosso nesse lagartão pomposo, mas existem diversas características nos ossos que revelam o parentesco.
